The Royal House has published new portraits of Queen Mary in a white dress and King Frederik in a suit.

The pictures were taken in continuation of the change of throne on 14 January this year, when Queen Margrethe abdicated and left the throne to her first-born son.

The civilian portraits can be used in connection with, for example, official travel, visits and special events, the royal house writes.

New gala portraits

In April, the royal house also published new gala portraits of the royal house. They are currently being sent out.

Over time, the official gala portraits of sitting regents have been hung on Danish embassies, consulates and Danish vessels.

Until recently, it hung pictures of Queen Margrethe, which must now be replaced when the gala portraits arrive.

In addition to being used on the occasion of official visits, civil portraits can also be used by patrons of the royal house.

Part of the royals’ duties consist of being patrons of various associations and organizations. The purpose of the patronages is to support a cause, an association or an organization.
