The Royal Run returns to Copenhagen and Frederiksberg on Monday, June 9th, with 45,000 participants expected in the capital region. The event, first held in 2018 to mark King Frederik’s 50th birthday, offers runners a choice of one mile, 5 km, or 10 km distances.
Traffic along the route—covering the Inner City, Vesterbro, and Frederiksberg—will be closed from 7:00 to 23:00. Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to cross the course, and metro services will operate normally.
A special Royal Run travel ticket will be available, granting 12 hours of free travel on buses, trains, and metro throughout Greater Copenhagen.
Royal Run 2025 will also take place in other cities, and is expected to have nearly 97,500 participants across five host cities: Copenhagen/Frederiksberg, Ribe, Viborg, Horsens, and Korsør. For more traffic information, see the official site.
