Step into the pages of history with The Copenhagen Post as we invite you on a captivating guided tour of Kronborg Castle — one of Northern Europe’s most legendary landmarks, beautifully perched on the edge of the Ƙresund Strait.

Discover Kronborg

Kronborg was built in the 16th century by King Frederik II. Strategically positioned at the narrowest point of the Ƙresund, Kronborg was the control post for one of Europe’s most important waterways.

Perhaps most famously, Kronborg is forever linked to William Shakespeare. In his play Hamlet, the setting ā€œElsinoreā€ refers directly to Kronborg — giving the castle an immortal place in world literature.

About the Tour – ā€œAll About Kronborgā€

This guided tour offers a rich and engaging overview of the castle’s story — from royal intrigue to military life, and from everyday castle routines to international drama.

You will visit:

  • The Royal Chambers, where Danish monarchs held court
  • The Grand Ballroom, once alive with music, dance, and celebration
  • The underground casemates, dark tunnels where soldiers hid — and where Holger Danske, Denmark’s legendary sleeping warrior, is said to rest, ready to rise in Denmark’s time of need

The Tour Concludes with the Exhibition: FEST

In the final part of the tour, you’ll explore FEST, a vivid exhibition that captures the joy, extravagance, and political purpose behind royal celebrations in the Renaissance.

Through costumes, instruments, immersive scenes, and storytelling, FEST brings to life the sounds, colors, and grandeur of Renaissance court life at Kronborg.
