The tax authority’s website saw a significant spike in traffic this weekend after SKAT announced that citizens were able to access their annual tax returns at www.skat.dk.

Those not patient enough to wait for a few days to check whether or not they’d be getting taxes back were forced to wrestle with their composure, as long log-in queues were created by hundreds of thousands trying to get an early-doors peak at their figures.

“Since we opened for the annual tax returns on Friday evening at 18:00, citizens have logged on at TastSelv 2,787,706 times as of 07:00 this morning,” Skat wrote on Twitter.

“And there have been 748,925 changes to the annual tax returns.”

Mad rush … as usual
As of 10:00 this morning, there was about a 25-minute wait to gain access to the tax return.

As you can see in the image below, the queues spiked late Friday night and on Saturday afternoon.

Things seemed to have calmed down a bit by Sunday.
