Name and colour change on the way for one of Copenhagen’s busiest bus lines

The 5A bus will soon become the 5C … and it will be turquoise

Millions of bus passengers in Copenhagen will notice a few changes from next spring.

The capital’s busiest line, the 5A, is changing its name to the 5C and its colour to turquoise. The new vehicles will be 18 metres long – five metres longer than the current yellow and red buses that serve the line.

The 5C will be the route on the new Copenhagen ‘City Line’ and will start services on 23 April 2017.

A lot of passengers
The 5A bus currently runs from Husum Torv via Nørrebrogade and Copenhagen Central Station to Copenhagen Airport. According to Movia, 20 million passengers use the route every year.

The new buses will be CO2-neutral and feature multiple doors similar to those found on trains.

The route will also change a bit. The 5C will run around the clock and be extended from Husum Torv to Herlev Hospital.
