Hjerting Laks to merge with Polar Seafood

Century-old Danish company Hjerting Laks is undergoing a merger with Polar Seafood.

The merger will see Hjerting Laks’ production, along with the majority of the 45 staff at Hjerting, shift to the Polar Seafood facility in the port of Esbjerg.

As both Hjerting Laks and Polar Seafood’s ‘Old Danish Smokehouse’ are established brands, each will continue to sell under their own names.

In a statement, Hjerting Laks’ managing director Christoph Kjærgaard said: “I see a great future for the new joint company, which will be one of the strongest in its field.”
