Bus rental and compensation to passengers cost rail operators nearly five million kroner

Along with inconveniencing thousand of travellers, cable thieves lusting for copper in January have cost DSB 4.7 million kroner in bus rental fees and compensation to inconvenienced passengers.

DSB said that bus rentals alone have cost them more than 1.6 million kroner. Lost fares from passengers that just gave up taking the trains and payments to those demanding compensation under the travel time guarantee added another three million kroner to the bill.

“These cable thefts interfere with people's everyday lives, said DSB spokesperson Tony Bispeskov. “It is unsatisfactory for customers, DSB and BaneDanmark who have to get the trains running again.”
