S-train to make announcements in English

Trial programme will give status updates in English during summer months

Good news for English speakers taking the S-train – starting today, announcements about changes to train schedules will also be made in English.

Information about S-train schedules that are usually announced only in Danish will also be broadcast in English beginning June 1.

According to an update on the railway company's DSB Facebook page, the S-train has long considered accommodating non-Danish speakers, including tourists.

“English announcements will be at all S-train stations,” said a spokesperson for DSB.

Employees who will be making the broadcasts have undergone English courses.

Danish announcements will remain a priority if a problem in train traffic arises. At these times, DSB says it will be difficult to obtain information in English.

DSB said the English announcements will only be made temporarily through June, July and August, before determining whether they will continue to provide the service.
