Family fun at the harbour

Enjoy festivities at the harbour, the city's historic grand prix, and open-air dance or cinema this week.

 

Copenhagen Harbour Festival
Denmark’s largest harbour festival lets visitors experience new aspects of Copenhagen’s harbour area at six different locations, from Refshaløen in the north to Sydhavn in the south. Festivalgoers can experience everything from dance and music performances to water sports and workshops, as well as children’s activities, theatre, and ‘secret harbour tours’, which explore the little-known areas of the city’s waterways.

Historic Grand Prix
Experience Copenhagen’s Historic Grand Prix, a race through Bellahøj which celebrates historic racecars and famous drivers, providing action and entertainment for the whole family. The event also provides a cultural narrative of motorsport and racecar development through the ages, showcasing over 200 drivers and their cars from all over Europe. Children under 14 attend for free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Summer Dance at Police Headquarters
Catch contemporary dance with the Copenhagen cops at this open-air dance event at the police headquarters. This year’s programme features Örjan Andersson, one of Sweden’s most established choreographers, many other hand-picked performers as well as live music and a preview of the Danish Dance Theatre’s upcoming season. Admission is free, but reservations are recommended.

Open-Air Cinema
Relax at the open-air cinema and watch films ranging from old school science fiction to film noir. On Friday, be sure to get there at 18:30 on the dot (no latecomers will be admitted) to get a free glass of wine and an advance look and reading (in English!) at a new book, The Disaster Artist, written about the film The Room, which will be shown that night at 19:30.

Filipino Town Festival
Pista sa Nayon, or the Filipino Town Festival, comes to Copenhagen for the third year to unite the Filipino and Danish communities with an afternoon of food and fun. Various food stalls will provide authentic meals courtesy of the local non-profit organisation, Filipino Danish Centre, while traditional cultural performances and entertainment will also take place. Admission is free and the festival is open to all.
