Teenager arrested in S-train stabbing

Passenger attacked for asking assailants to quiet down

Copenhagen Police have arrested an 18-year-old man for a stabbing attack on a passenger that happened in an S-train quiet car early Sunday morning.

“After he heard that we had been looking for him at his residence, he turned himself in,” Robert Jensen, the head of the investigation, told TV 2 News.

Two other suspects were also detained, but were released when it was clear that they were not involved in the attack. The 18-year-old was held as a suspect.

“The suspect is in custody and will be presented for a preliminary detention hearing,” Jensen said. “This is a serious crime.”

The attack occurred on an S-train quiet car early Sunday morning when a 25-year-old man asked two noisy teenagers to quiet down. The two attacked the man and stabbed him in the stomach. He was taken to the hospital for surgery. His wounds were not life-threatening.

Police are still looking for the other person involved in the attack and have interviewed witnesses who were on the train.

“We are still trying to find the other suspect,” said Jensen.

Police are unsure of the relationship between the two attackers.

The 18-year-old is scheduled to appear before the court today.
