Helle Thorning-Schmidt interrupts Asia trip due to Russian presence in Ukraine

Helle Thorning-Schmidt has decided to cut short a visit to Asia to participate in the extraordinary EU meeting on Thursday about the situation in Ukraine.

The EU government leaders will gather in Brussels to discuss whether they should use sanctions against Russia due to their armed presence in Ukraine.

The purpose of the Danish prime minister’s trip to Asia was to strengthen Danish trade relations with Japan and South Korea. Trade Minister Mogens Jensen (S) will now take her place.
