A curly-haired, blond Danish man allegedly features on a 30-photo list of terrorists who have died in suicide attacks in Iraq between 11 September 2013 and 6 March 2014, which was published by the north Iraqi wing of the terrorist organisation Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
While the Danish Foreign Ministry has yet to confirm the news, the young Dane allegedly hailed from the Aarhus area and went by the name of Fatih al Denmarki, according to the US intelligence group SITE.
DNA test would confirm it
“It would require a DNA test before we could say with certainty, but I can say that we always look into these cases and will continue doing so, although it is very difficult to confirm information from that area,” Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, a spokesperson from the Foreign Ministry, told metroXpress newspaper.
“I can say that we have been informed by Danes that there are people who have fought in the area.”
ISIL has been behind a number of suicide bombings in northern Iraq, including attacks on police headquarters and the blast at the Iraqi Transport Ministry that killed nine people on January 30.
The day after the Transport Ministry suicide bombing, other photos of the alleged Dane appeared on several jihadist websites.
