Mr & Ms Fruitness, coming to a grocery store near you

A EU campaign to encourage more fruit consumption is coming to Denmark. Peachy!

A pair of unlikely superheroes are heading to your local supermarket and they're pretty fruity, to put it mildly.

Indomitable duo Mister and Miss Fruitness are fronting ‘Fruitness, Enjoy It’, a program funded by the EU and Italy’s ministry of agriculture that is dedicated to promoting healthy nutrition and increased fruit consumption across Europe between now and 2016, which has just added Denmark to the list of target countries it wants to squeeze some goodness into.

And you can expect to see their faces plastered all over grocery stores soon, so much so that it won't be long before the promotional fare – adverts, posters, display units and information pamphlets – starts to drive you bananas.

It's a peach you plum
The goal for this summer is to promote seasonal fruits like peaches and plums, which are especially high in vitamins, potassium and antioxidants, and when combined the parents of the nectarine.

The program believes Denmark will be especially receptive to the program’s efforts, seeing as Danes are health-conscious and peachy in general.
