As holiday season approaches, many guides on the street will offer sightseeing bus tours around Copenhagen, and they are ready to fight for the tourists – literally.
On Vesterbrogade near Tivoli, guides from different bus companies often get so worked up that they get into bare-knuckle fights with each other – often while they are surrounded by baffled tourists.
"My salesman was hit and kicked by a competing salesman. A while ago they tried to choke one another. They push and kick and the tourists panic and flee," Mohammed Sohail Ali, supervisor a the agency Step On and Step Off, told Metroxpress.
Police want agencies to end conflict
At Wonderful Copenhagen's tourist office located next to the conflict hotspot on Vesterbrogade, they get a lot of complaints from tourists over the aggressive salesmen, and employees have reported several incidents to the police.
Police will meet with the tour bus operators tomorrow and make them end the conflict right away.
"It's an untenable situation for the tourists. They are too aggressive in their hunt for customers," said Rasmus Bernt Skovsgaard, a deputy police inspector at Copenhagen Police.
"So at a meeting at the station on Wednesday, we will ask the operators to end this – now."
One of the fights were filmed by a bystander. Watch it here:
