Norwegian cancelling Friday flights after US lifts flying ban to and from Tel Aviv

SAS resumed flights between Copenhagen and Tel Aviv in Israel at 10.30 pm on Thursday after the airline on Tuesday decided to follow a US prohibition against flying to and from Israel.

US and European airlines have since resumed flights, but Norwegian has not yet lifted the ban. The airline announced on its website that the departures from Copenhagen Airport on 6.05 am and 12.30 from Tel Aviv on Friday are both cancelled.

On Friday at 5 am the first SAS plane from Tel Aviv departed for Copenhagen with most of the 300 to 350 passengers aboard who should have been on the two flights that were cancelled.

The ban followed reports from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that a rocket from Gaza on Tuesday landed one and a half kilometres from the Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv and destroyed a building in the Yahud suburb.
