Interview with Barbara I Gongini
Yesterday, Barbara I Gongini introduced her new collection at the official opening show of the Copenhagen Fashion Week.
Her collection is rated according to the HIGG index, an international scale to evaluate the environmental performance of fashion products.
“Our main focus is on sustainable fabrics and then we have a recycling process where we take old stock and give it a new DNA”, Barbara I Gongini said.
Usually the Fashion Week opening is assigned to upcoming designers, but due to this year’s special focus on sustainable fashion the show commenced with a brand displaying an example of sustainability.
An exploration of forms

The widespread use of black allows the spectator to focus more on the design of the garments.
“We are in the avant-gard segment, that sometimes just needs to have peace and quiet. This is why I don’t work with colours, I love colours, but for this particular segment black, white and grey shades are quite optimal to leave space for the form aspect,” the designer explained.
