Helsingør says yes to temporary asylum centre

Immigration Service given green light to establish location for 400 refugees

Helsingør Council last night gave Udlændingestyrelsen, the immigration service, permission to establish a temporary reception centre for about 400 refugees.

Udlændingestyrelsen has been given a deal that runs until 31 December to use the now-empty Helsingør Hospital.

A majority on the council wants to see the facility transformed into a community health centre, according to Frederiksborg Amts Avis.
