Helsingør Council last night gave Udlændingestyrelsen, the immigration service, permission to establish a temporary reception centre for about 400 refugees.
Udlændingestyrelsen has been given a deal that runs until 31 December to use the now-empty Helsingør Hospital.
A majority on the council wants to see the facility transformed into a community health centre, according to Frederiksborg Amts Avis.
