Opera, literature and pop royalty

The last week has seen a number of household names pass through Copenhagen. First off, the opera singer many are calling the next Pavarotti, the Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja, gave a memorable performance at Tivoli last week on Friday to celebrate its 171st birthday. Here he is pictured with Danish soprano Sofie Elkjær Jensen.

And then there was the esteemed British author Salman Rushdie, who was in Odense to receive his Hans Christian Andersen Literature Award and on Tuesday appeared at the International Authors’ Stage at the Black Diamond.

And finally, the Pet Shop Boys popped over to perform at Smukfest.
