Two men arrested in explosives case

Over one kilo of plastic explosives found

The City Police have arrested two men in Nørrebro and charged them with illegally being in possession of over a kilo of plastic explosives, fuses and an ignition device.

The police yesterday arrested one of the men following a tip-off that he was in possession of explosives. And then they later arrested the man who they believe supplied the man with the said explosives.

“What else may be revealed in the case will probably only occur behind closed doors today, so I can't say anything more than what is in the charges document,” Stig Fleischer, the senior prosecutor, told BT tabloid.

Long prison sentence doubtful
The two men, aged 33 and 31, have denied any guilt in the case during police questioning and will face a preliminary hearing this afternoon.

Fleischer maintained that based on previous convictions in similar cases, the two men probably don't face particularly long jail time.

“The precedent shows that being in possession of a kilo of explosives is not something that leads to long prison sentences,” Fleischer said.
