Sex, Shame and suicide – lovely

Lulu will be sure to stir up emotions

Alan Berg’s German opera about sex, shame and suicide is bound to stir up emotions.

Lulu is a femme fatal, irresistible to men and very dangerous (many of her conquests do actually die). She engages in a relationship with her husband’s son, leading to her downfall into a pit of despair, with Jack the Ripper waiting at the bottom.

This is a revival of Stefan Herheim’s staging in 2010, which received rave reviews the first time around thanks partly to the standout performance of Sine Bundgaard in the lead, who is back to play her again.
