IS supporters take responsibility for Arla shooting

Video posted online of the shooting

A group that supports the militant jihadists Islamic State (IS) has taken responsibility for last month's shooting of a Danish Arla employee in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh.

The group released a video on the internet via LiveLeak that contains footage of the assassination attempt of the Dane as he drives in his car on the motorway. The man was shot three times, but survived.

”The material that was posted concerns the episode on November 22, in which an Arla employee was shot, as confirmed earlier,” Theis Brøgger, the dairy giant's head of communications, told DR Nyheder.

”We can confirm this is not a new episode. There is an ongoing investigation involving the Danish and Saudi authorities.”

Extremist groups?
Earlier on, the Saudi police stated that the case information so far indicated that the shootings of the Dane and a US citizen, who was shot and killed in October, were not related to extremist groups.

But the video – which lasts over three minutes – also shows photos of IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and Abu Mohammed al-Adnani, the IS spokesperson. It also urges the killing and spitting on of citizens from western countries that are involved in the fight against IS.

Arla had already stepped up its security in Saudi Arabia following the shooting last month.
