Eriksen spurring on Tottenham

Dane emerging as a true match winner in the Premier League

Danish international Christian Eriksen continues to excel since making the move to English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur from Ajax at the beginning of last season.

The Dane, 22, put Sheffield United to the blade this week with two well-taken goals – including a stunning free-kick and another last-gasp winner – to put Spurs through to the Capital One Cup final, which is his first cup final since moving to England.

“It was a superb free-kick, but in my eyes it is crazy that the same player is scoring so many deciding goals in one season,” Morten Bruun, a football expert and commentator, told Berlingske newspaper. “It’s very unique, especially since he is a midfielder.”

The same for Denmark please
After scoring seven EPL goals in his first season for Tottenham, Eriksen has already notched up eight this term and many have been game-winners. In fact, through his goals, Eriksen has secured 13 points for his club, which is more than any other player in the EPL.

And Eriksen’s goal this week, which booked Tottenham’s cup final place against Chelsea on March 1, was not an abnormality.

Eriksen has scored winning goals in the dying moments of games against Hull City, Sunderland and Swansea City in the EPL and is on course to surpass the five late-match winners former Spurs star Gareth Bale in the 2012-13 season.

Now, with Serbia waiting in a critical Euro 2016 qualification clash on June 13, he just needs to be a more deciding force for the national team.
