Fewer Danes moving to Scania

Lowest number in 15 years choosing to relocate across the bridge

The number of Danes moving to Scania is at its lowest level for 15 years.

According to stats provider Ørestat, the number of people making a permanent move across the Øresund to start a new life in Sweden is at its lowest level since 2000.

In 2014, just 2,326 people moved there. That number included Swedes choosing to move to Scania after living in Zealand.

Danes staying home
The number of Danes moving has declined, while the number of Swedes moving home has not changed.

In 2014, 684 Danes chose to move to Scania (compared with 908 in 2013) – the lowest level for 12 years.

In 2007, 6422 people moved across the bridge. That was the highest year on record, spurred on by the financial crisis.

Since 2010, more people have elected to move from Scania to eastern Denmark than the other way around.
