Man convicted of driving into baby was both drunk and on drugs

Incident took place on beach on Falster

A 27-year-old man was convicted yesterday of endangering the life of an eight-week-old baby whilst driving a scooter under the influence of both alcohol and cannabis.

The incident occurred on the beach at Marielyst on the island of Falster when the man crashed into the child’s pushchair.

The man was condemned to a 40-day suspended prison sentence, ordered to pay a fine of 24,250 kroner and banned from driving for eight years.

The incident took place on 9 June 2014 on a stretch of beach where motor vehicles are not permitted. The young child was fastened into a pushchair and, despite being thrown in the sand, was uninjured.
