Unknown Hans Christian Andersen manuscript discovered

Hand-written copy discovered at estate

The original manuscript for Hans Christian Andersen’s story ‘Psyken’ has been discovered at the Knuthenborg estate in Lolland.

The well-known story was first published in 1861. The manuscript just discovered during a clean-up at Knuthenborg is in the author’s own hand and includes corrections made by Andersen.

Experts have verified that the document is indeed an original HC Andersen manuscript.

It is not known how the story wound up at Knuthenborg. Andersen was known to have visited a number of estates and manors during his life, but there is no record of him having stayed at Knuthenborg.
