Yesterday Vestas received an order for 72 of its V110-2.0 MW turbines to be installed in the US, representing a capacity of 144 megawatts.
This brings the company’s order intake so far this year to more than 6,000 megawatts. The company also celebrated the installatation of its 55,000th turbine and passing the milestone of 70 gigawatts of installed capacity worldwide.

The order announced yesterday was to an anonymous customer, but Vestas could disclose that the turbines are destined for Michigan in the US and will be installed in the second half of 2016.
CEO: Wind energy makes economic sense
Vestas has turbines in 74 countries across six continents and calculates that its installations can cumulatively produce enough power to cover the annual electricity consumption of 75 million European residential consumers.
Anders Runevad, Vestas’ CEO, said that passing the milestone was something to be proud of and that it attested to the business case for wind energy.
