New Danish citizens win libel case against Dansk Folkeparti

Court rules that controversial 2013 advert was libellous

The Copenhagen City Court ruled this afternoon in favour of 15 new citizens in a libel case against Dansk Folkeparti (DF) over a newspaper advert that appeared in 2013, reports DR.

The ad named around 700 of that year’s applicants for citizenship along with the text “One on the list is a threat to Denmark’s security – and now he’s becoming a Dane.”

An action was also brought against Kristian Thulesen Dahl, the leader of DF, but this was dismissed.
