Nykøbing Mors Hospital closing today

According to a regional councilman, the facility is being closed to ‘make ends meet’ in spite of protests

Nykøbing Mors Hospital, located in the largest town on the island of Mors in northern Jutland, is closing down today.

The North Jutland Region has decided to relocate the hospital departments to Thisted on the mainland to cut down on expenses.

Ulla Astman, the head of the region, told TV2 she could not see other solutions in order to “make ends meet”.

Hans Ejner Bertelsen – the mayor of Mors, who protested against the region’s decision – has called the closure “a sad day”.
