Construction of new super-hospitals delayed

Municipalities forced to postpone and change building projects due to budget cuts

Several municipalities in central Jutland have postponed and downsized construction plans for their new super-hospitals due to a lack of finances, reports Jyllands-Posten.

The opening of the new super-hospital in Skejby near Aarhus, for example, which was scheduled to be finished in late 2016, has now been postponed until October 2017, and the original plans have been altered significantly.

Only a half of the administration building will be built.

Delayed and downsized
Similarly, the new super-hospital in Gødstrup near Herning won’t be finished until 2019, two years later than scheduled, and a whole storey will be cut to balance the construction budget.

Also in Aalborg, a planned maternity hotel will be cut from the super-hospital that is due to open in 2020, reported TV2.

In 2007, Denmark announced plans for six new national super-hospitals located in Aalborg, Gødstrup, Aarhus, Odense, Køge and Hillerød.
