Grundfos awarded prestigious UN prize at COP21

The company’s invention provides sustainable water supply in developing countries

The Danish pump manufacturer Grundfos yesterday received a prestigious United Nations award at the Paris climate conference for its Lifelink water solutions.

The company’s technology provides reliable and sustainable water supply to people in developing countries.

Grundfos was selected among 15 other initiatives for the Momentum for Change Lighthouse Activity Award in the ‘Information and Communication Technologies’ category.

“I expect that the UN award means that Grundfos will be in an even stronger position with politicians, investors and water utilities in our efforts to provide more people with easier access to clean drinking water,” said Mads Nipper, the CEO of Grundfos.

Sustainable water
More than 450 projects competed for the UN award that is given to initiatives providing the most practical, scalable and replicable solutions for tackling climate change and wider economic, social and environmental challenges.

Grudfos currently runs 40 Lifelink projects in Kenya, providing drinking water to nearly 100,000 people from special water kiosks.

The company also has projects in Uganda and recently expanded into India.
