Arla to lay off 500 employees

The dairy producer faces fierce competition on the European market

Arla Group has announced plans to downsize up to 500 employees, reports DR.

Peter Tuborgh, the company’s CEO, said the affected employees will soon be informed, adding that the lay-offs will not impact on hourly-paid workers.

The demand for Arla’s products is not as high as expected, particularly in Europe, and the downsizing is necessary for the dairy producer to “remain flexible and competitive”, explained Tuborgh.
