‘Olsen Gang’ star dies aged 85

Ove Verner Hansen, known as ‘Bøffen’ from popular Danish crime series, had a cardiac arrest

Ove Verner Hansen, popular Danish actor and opera singer, died yesterday at the age of 85 after he had suffered a cardiac arrest, reports DR.

He died at Gentofte Hospital surrounded by his family.

Hansen is most known from the Danish crime series The Olsen Gang, where he portrayed villain ‘Bøffen’ (literally ‘Steak’).

Throughout his long career, Hansen worked as lumberjack, opera singer, comedic actor and he also published several cookbooks.

He spent his entire life in Helsingør.

In 1960, he married his wife Birthe.
