Man charged with raping a woman in Danish asylum centre

Details sketchy in attack reported by the Red Cross early this morning

A man has been charged with raping a woman at the Sandholm asylum centre in Allerød. He will appear before the court in Hillerød this afternoon.

North Zealand police were notified by the Red Cross of the attack at just past midnight in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

“It happened somewhere inside Sandholm,” Kent Rømer, a detective with the north Zealand Police, told Ekstra Bladet.

Rømer did not want to release the exact location of the alleged attack, or say whether the man and woman involved knew each other previously. Both have been taken for a forensic examination.
