Today is the 115th anniversary of Denmark’s first marking International Women’s Day – not to be confused with Cake & Cunnilingus Day, which this year is being held on April 14.

It had begun two years earlier in New York as a socialist political event. Often accompanied by the wearing of purple ribbons, the day is used to draw attention to gender inequalities such as unequal pay and to honour historically-significant
women.
