Global Meat News reports that Denmark is trailing behind its European counterparts and is no longer the continents’s top exporter of pork.
Trailing behind Spain and Germany
The demand for European pork has skyrocketed in the last couple of years – most particularly in China and South Korea.
And in 2015, both Spain and Germany overtook Denmark’s total of 320,000 tonnes, exporting 363,000 and 356,000 tonnes respectively
China remains the biggest importer of European pork despite its recent economic downturn. Chinese demand contributed to a growth of 23 percent in German pork exports and 30 percent in Spanish pork exports. Denmark’s growth climbed just 4 percent in the same time period.
