Free memorial concert honouring Prince in Copenhagen tonight

Vega opening its doors to celebrate the iconic musician’s life and work

News of the sudden death of Prince continues to shock and sadden music fans throughout Denmark.

Copenhagen concert venue Vega and event promoter Golden Days will hold a free memorial concert and show featuring music and spoken word remembrances of Prince’s legacy tonight.

Music journalist Henrik Milling, musician and writer Kristian Leth, pianist Nikolaj Koppel and artist Evren Tekinokay will offer their individual remembrances of the singer’s historical, artistic and iconic status, and present their choice for the ultimate Prince song.

A cultural perspective on the news
Golden Days is one of the prime movers behind ‘pop-up festivals’ in Denmark, spur-of-the-moment musical events that offer a cultural dimension to the news of the day.

“It is important to provide a cultural perspective on current events at the moment they become history,”  said Golden Days director Svante Lind Burg.

Tonight’s memorial show will be held in Vega’s Lounge. Doors open at 19:00 and the show starts at 20:00. Admission is free on a first come, first served, basis.

According to Vega’s facebook page, over 130 people are going and hundreds of others are interested in attending.
