Leicester’s Schmeichel makes it 3-0 to the keepers

Kasper emulates his dad Peter, but loses column inches war to lucky punter

Kasper Schmeichel became an English Premier League champion last night, becoming only the third Dane to pick up a medal following his father Peter (five titles) and Anders Lindegaard, both of whom are also goalkeepers.

Christian Eriksen’s Tottenham could only draw 2-2 with Chelsea on Monday, handing the pre-season 5,000-1 outsiders the title with two games to spare in what is surely the greatest upset in sporting history.

Oddset’s ‘orrible October
However, Schmeichel is battling for column inches in today’s Danish media with Claus Guldborg Hansen, a punter who bet 75 kroner with Oddset in October on Leicester to win the title.

Despite the Foxes being in the top six back then, they were still 1,500/1, and he has won 112,500 kroner.

“It’s been crazy,” Hansen told DR.

“This will probably never happen again. A bet like this comes only once in a lifetime.”
