About Town: Kerrying on in Copenhagen

The US secretary of state, John Kerry, was in Denmark on Thursday June 16 as part of an official visit focusing on co-operation in the Arctic region, climate issues, the conflict in Syria against Islamic State (IS), and the situation in Ukraine and trade.

Kerry was hosted by the foreign minister, Kristian Jensen and he also managed to meet with Queen Margrethe II and prime minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

The secretary of state also found time in his tight schedule to visit Game Streetmecca a project in Copenhagen which aims to help integrate socially vulnerable youths into society.

Following his visit to Copenhagen, Kerry flew on to Greenland to discuss issues pertaining to the island in regards to the Arctic, climate change and the plight of the indigenous community.
