DTU ranked among top engineering universities in the world

The university also ranked well in civil engineering, chemical engineering and environmental science

The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in one of the best universities for engineering in the world, according to the 2016 Academic Ranking of World Universities (here in English).

DTU ranked first in Europe and second in the world in Energy Science and Engineering, a category in which Aalborg University also fared well in, ranking 20th.

“We are very proud of the international recognition of our extensive work in the energy sector. DTU has a clear ambition to be a leader in research, knowledge, and technological development within the energy sector,” said Jacob Østergaard, a professor and head of PowerLabDK at DTU.

DTU’s thousand
The ranking, which is collated by researchers at the Center for World-Class Universities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, takes into account seven categories of engineering: energy science, chemical, electrical, civil, mechanical, environmental science and materials.

DTU also ranked second in the world for civil engineering, 12th for chemical engineering and 16th for environmental science.

There are about 1,000 researchers at DTU who are involved with the many aspects of the energy arena.

Aalborg University also ranked seventh for electrical engineering, while the University of Copenhagen ranked 22nd for environmental science.
