Cannonball found at construction site in Copenhagen

Police has decided to detonate it on the spot for safety reasons

A cannonball was found this morning at a construction site in Klubiensvej in the Copenhagen district of Nordhavn.

Copenhagen Police has decided to call a bomb squad to detonate the rusty cannonball for safety reasons.

“It has been lying in the ground for many years,” stated Henrik Brix, a police officer on duty.

“But we believe that there is still gunpowder inside, so we don’t dare move it and we have decided to detonate it on the spot.”

The cannonball is 15 centimetres in diameter and it was discovered in connection with an excavation for a sewer.
