Danish shopping centre rated among the best in the world

Frederiksberg Centre wins design and development award at VIVA Best of the Best Awards

For the first time ever, a Danish shopping centre has won an award at the 2017 VIVA Best of the Best Awards, which is handed out by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) in Las Vegas.

Frederiksberg Centre, which also happens to be the first Danish centre ever nominated, was one of six centres to win an honour award in the ‘Design & Development’ category.

“Winning this fantastic award is a stamp of approval for us delivering a really good shopping centre to our customers,” said Eva Handest, the head of real estate at Frederiksberg Centre’s owner Danica Pension.

“We’re pleased that a shopping centre from Denmark has been shown here and can help inspire the international retail industry.”

Expert expansion
The Danish shopping centre won the award for its efforts in expanding the centre by 20,000 sqm, which included adding an extra floor with 25 new shops and an extra floor for parking.

Since its expansion, the centre has enjoyed an increase in turnover of 24 percent in 2015 and 32 percent in 2016.

According to the ICSC, the VIVA awards honour the retail real estate industry’s most cutting-edge properties, innovative solutions, and creative responses to market trends.
