According to the Patient Safety Authority, the Indian COVID-19 mutation B1617 has been registered in Copenhagen.
The cases all pertain to a few households in the Nordvest district in the nighbourhood near Tagensvej/Tuborgvej/Charlotte Munks Vej.
The Patient Safety Authority has launched an intensive infection tracing initiative in co-operation with Copenhagen Municipality.
Vaccine impact not in jeopardy
A temporary testing centre has also been established for residents in the area.
Statens Serum Institut (SSI) estimates that the mutation is not more contagious than the British variant and that current vaccines are effective against it.
Before today, SSI had registered 29 cases of the Indian mutation in Denmark.
