Danish youth party members under fire for helping pro-abortion candidates in US

Members of Konservativ Ungdom travelled to Miami to help the likes of Marco Rubio and Ron DeSantis win re-election

You wouldn’t think that political platforms that favour the right to bear arms and seek to curb abortion rights for women would get much traction in Denmark.

But that hasn’t prevented some members of Konservativ Ungdom (KU) – Konservative’s youth wing – from travelling to Miami to help prominent Republican candidates from winning re-election in the US Midterm Elections.

The group of youngsters have been going door-to-door on behalf of GOP giants Marco Rubio and Ron DeSantis – something that has attracted the ire of many of their fellow Danes.

“We support the Republicans because they are our sister party and the only real alternative to the Democrats. It doesn’t mean that we agree on everything, and we convey as much while we are here,” Christian Holst Vigilius, one of the KU members, wrote on Facebook.

“I’ve never been a fan of [Donald] Trump and that’s among the reasons why we think DeSantis would be a preferred presidential candidate.”

Curbing women’s rights
Vigilius said that he had been called a fascist and wished dead since he put up a social media post relating to the trip two days ago. He has described the trip as being more of a student trip to learn about how the election works in the US.

Rubio, a senator running for re-election in Florida, is a staunch pro-life supporter and wants to ban abortion – even for victims of incest and rape. He is also a strong supporter of gun rights and has an A+ rating with the powerful NRA gun lobby group.

As governor of Florida, DeSantis also has an A+ rating with the NRA and recently signed into law a ban on most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy … with no exceptions involving rape and incest.

That’s despite the fact that Florida has the third-highest abortion rate in the US.

DeSantis is considered by many as the main challenger to Trump for the Republican nomination in the next presidential election.
