A cultural evening in Nyhavn: Art, bubbles, and networking

On Tuesday, The Copenhagen Post kicked off its new Connect Club event series with an evening of art, bubbles and conversation at New Harbour Gallery in the heart of Nyhavn. Were you there?

On Tuesday, The Copenhagen Post kicked off its new Connect Club event series with an evening of art, bubbles and conversation at New Harbour Gallery in the heart of Nyhavn.

Featuring an artist talk and painting exhibition by artist Johan Adam Linneballe, the event gathered a diverse crowd of internationals to hang out, learn about Linneballe’s creative process, and get to know The Post‘s editorial team.

As evening set in, gold fairy lights illuminated Nyhavn’s iconic coloured facades and their reflections danced on the dark canal, shimmering between the hulls of wooden boats. A light mist crept over the windows and The Copenhagen Post‘s publisher, Jesper Skeel, introduced the night and with words on the inclusive vision behind Connect Club.

The Copenhagen Post is your Danish connection. Our goal is to create a community for international citizens in Denmark,” said Skeel.

“A big thank you to all of you who showed up today – and a big commendation to the employers who choose to invest in this project, allowing their international employees a community outside of the workplace.”

Next, Linneballe took the stage to share his reflections on the creative process behind his work. Blending photographic elements and painterly techniques, his exhibition Synteses – and Other Images presents visuals of evocative complexity and abstraction.

Linneballe’s words touched not only on his own work but also on the pace of modern society:

“We live in a world where everything has to go faster, be cheaper, and easier, but no one has ever traveled abroad to see an attraction that was built quickly, cheaply, and easily.”

Following the talks, the evening was filled with conversations on art, culture, and what it means to be international in Denmark.

The atmosphere was relaxed and festive, and as Vivienne McKee remarked: “The party doesn’t end in Denmark until there’s no more alcohol.”

Guests lingered long after the official program had ended, and the last ones left the venue late into the night, full of good impressions and new friends made in the heart of Nyhavn.
