Man fined for crossing Storebæltsbroen 29 times without paying

The 32-year-old man was able to pass through the bridge toll booth for free by driving closely behind a paying vehicle, evading a total of DKK 7,845 in toll charges over five months. He faces paying DKK 25,245 in compensation.

A 32-year-old man who crossed Storebæltsbroen – the bridge connecting Fyn and Sjælland – 29 times without paying has been summoned to court on charges of fare evasion.

According to the court hearing request, obtained by Ekstra Bladet, the man was able to pass through the bridge toll booth in Korsør for free by driving closely behind a paying vehicle.

The crossings occurred in the period from August 18 2023 to January 19 2024, at times ranging variously from 9:30am to 1am.  

In 26 of the cases he evaded a toll of DKK 270 per crossing, while in the last three cases it was DKK 275.

Overall, the man evaded DKK 7,845 in charges.

Storebæltsforbinden A/S has made a claim for the man to pay a compensation of DKK 25,245, according to Ekstra Bladet.

The case is expected to proceed as a confession case in the Court in Næstved on May 7. One hour has been set aside.
