Yesterday, applicants for both citizenship (Indfødsretsprøven) and permanent residency (Medborgerskabsprøven) took their respective tests. 6,320 people participated.
Both tests are held twice a year and will take place again on November 26. Applicants must register by October 22 and pay a fee of 905 DKK.

What the tests look like
SIRI published a sample exam yesterday.
To obtain Danish citizenship, you must pass this Indfødsretsprøven (Citizenship Test), which assesses your knowledge of Danish society, culture, history, and values.
The test consists of 45 written multiple-choice questions and lasts 45 minutes. To pass, you must answer at least 36 questions correctly, including 4 out of 5 questions on Danish values. The questions cover:
- 35 on Danish history, society, and culture
- 5 on current events
- 5 on Danish values (e.g., freedom of speech, equality, the relationship between religion and law)

The test to obtain your permanent residency permit is a little different.
Medborgerskabsprøven consists of 25 written questions about Danish democracy and everyday life, as well as Danish culture and history.
The test lasts 30 minutes. Each question has two or three answer options. To pass the test, you must answer at least 20 of the 25 questions correctly.
