Specialty thieves busted

Police recover large amounts of stolen goods and are building a solid case

A gang specialising in stealing high-end designer wares has been arrested by police in Jutland

The burglar group concentrated on design items, and stole only expensive furniture, jewellery, porcelain, Oriental carpets and other high-end articles from homes and summer residences.

The gang had been operating in central and northern Jutland, but after a lengthy investigation police were able to put an end to their activities yesterday.

Task Force West, a special police unit investigating organised crime, had been working the case since February and conducted searches of 14 different locations throughout Jutland.

During the sweeps, police arrested three of the presumed ringleaders as well as seven accomplices.

A considerable amount of stolen goods was also recovered, all high-end material and items that are easy to sell on.

The three main suspects are all between 25 and 30 and hail from the same area in which the crimes have been committed. They face arraignment today at the court in Randers with a view to be remanded.

Kirsten Fischer, the head of Task Force West, was pleased with the outcome and indicated that the investigation would now turn to gathering evidence.

“It was a good and effective day,” Fischer said. “Now comes the slower follow up work of identifying the various crime scenes and finding the owners of all the stolen goods we have recovered.”
