Roskilde adds Bon Iver to lineup

Indie favourites join Björk and Bruce Springsteen as early names

Even though itÂ’s only early December, the last ten days have been quite busy for the organisers of the Roskilde Festival.

Yesterday, Roskilde announced the addition of indie folk act Bon Iver, hot on the heels of last week’s announcement of Björk and Bruce Springsteen’s own revelation that he too would be playing the Orange Scene.

Calling Bon Iver a “bearded folk hero”, Roskilde revealed that the American act had been among the top 10 fan requests for the 2012 festival.

Bon Iver shot to fame with 2008Â’s For Emma, Forever Ago, an album that received heavy critical acclaim and certified gold sales in both Denmark and the United States. Earlier this year, the band released a self-titled album that reached number one on the Danish charts and number two in the US. Bon Iver is up for four Grammy awards this year –  Best New Artist, Best Alternative Music Album, and both Song of the Year and Record for the Year for the track ‘HoloceneÂ’.

Although Bon Iver plays a brand of indie folk rock, bearded frontman Justin Vernon has collaborated with hip-hop superstar Kanye West and British wunderkind James Blake.

The 2012 Roskilde Festival takes place July 5 – 8 and tickets are on sale now.
