New contract promises more eco-friendly meals in Copenhagen

Meals in the capital’s institutions are set for a green shake-up

In a deal worth up to 32.5 million kroner, Løgismose Meyers has been awarded an advisory contract by the City of Copenhagen.

The contract runs until 2024 and involves qualifying and advising kitchen staff in climate-friendly food production and waste management.

Almost 90 percent of the ingredients that make up the 70,000 meals prepared daily in the kitchens of Copenhagen’s institutions are already organic, but now Copenhageners can look forward to even more sustainable menus.

Eat your greens
The agreement is part of the City’s food and meal strategy, as it works towards its goal of reducing the carbon footprint of the municipality’s food purchases by 25 percent by 2025. The deal was welcomed by acting mayor Lars Weiss.

“In the City of Copenhagen, we are now taking another important step in the green transition and investing in more climate-friendly food in our institutions,” he said.

“With the help of Meyers Madhus, we are combining ecology, health and good taste with more climate-friendly meal production.”
